Surrey County Cricket Centres - Getting Back to Training : COVID-19 Protocols

Following the Government Roadmap and ECB Guidelines, the Ken Barrington Cricket Centre at the Kia Oval and the Surrey Cricket Centre in Guildford will reopen for bookings from the 19th April 2021.

The following activities can take from the 19th April 2021 :

  • One to One Coaching for U18's only delivered Surrey Coaching Staff
  • Small Group Coaching for U18's only (ratio of 1 coach and 5 players per net) delivered by Surrey Coaching Staff
  • Junior Club Nets for U18's only (ratio of 1 coach and 5 players per net)
  • One to One Coaching for over 18's, only delivered by Surrey Coaching Staff

All the above activities fall under 'organised sport' for indoors sports.

From the 6th April the booking system will be unlocked and available to take bookings.

Indoor Activity for Adult Groups will be reviewed on the 10th May by the government, with restrictions being lifted from the 17th May 2021.


The Surrey Cricket Centre and Ken Barrington Centre are open for bookings.

All bookings will be 50 minutes, sessions will start on the hour.

Only 3 lanes will be available to book, the empty lane will be used for net users to put their belongings (no access to changing rooms - come ready to train).

Before you leave :

If you or a member of your household have symptoms of coronavirus however mild, please do not attend the session and contact us on cricketcentres@surreycricket.com

Arrival and Access to the Indoor Cricket Centre :

All centre users will need to come ready to train, there will be no access to changing rooms or shower facilities.

To enter The Kia Oval site will be through the John Edrich Gate. Before 7pm, you may enter through the Alec Stewart Gate.

You will need to check in with security, where they will take your temperature, if your temperature is above 37.8 degrees, you will not be permitted to enter the site or take part in the session.

We ask that if you can please use the NHS app or Venue App to check in at our location or you will need to leave details with security, who will hold the information for 21 days in accordance with the government track and trace guidelines.

Arriving early - if you arrive more than 10 minutes before the start of your session, you will not be permitted onsite.

You will need to wear your mask whilst onsite and until you start your activity. Please observe the 'keep left' directions as you walk towards the Ken Barrington Centre.

At Entrance 32, we ask that you wait at the top of the stairs in a socially distanced manner before going down into the Ken Barrington Centre, once the attendees from the previous session have safely left the hall a member of staff will allow you to enter the Ken Barrington Centre.

During your Session :

Hand sanitiser will be available for all users, they will be located at the entrance of the hall and in the empty net lane. We ask that you use this before, during and after your sessions, breaking regularly to sanitise your hands.

Please do not use salvia or sweat on the cricket ball during your session, there will be wipes available to clean if needed.

All customers must bring their own batting equipment and cricket balls, please do not share equipment where possible.

We will NOT be able to provide any equipment to borrow for these sessions.

Observe social distancing rules at all times, where possible 2 metres.

We ask all centre users to bring along plenty of water / sports drink for the duration of your session.

End of your Session :

Sessions are strictly 50 minutes in duration, once your session has been called to finish we ask all users to end their session and exit promptly. Please exit through the main doors of the Ken Barrington Centre, at the top of the stairs, exit through the fire exit doors to the right.

Spectators :

Our viewing areas are CLOSED.

For U18 One to One sessions, one adult/carer will be allowed to stay and watch the session, we ask that you stay towards the back of the hall and keep your mask on. We ask that if siblings need to be in attendance, unfortunately they will not be permitted in the hall. Any large group sessions, we will not be able to accommodate parents to stay and watch.

The Surrey Cricket Centre, George Abbot School

All bookings will be 50 minutes, sessions will start on the hour.

Only 4 lanes will be available to book, the empty lane will be used for net users to put their belongings or this can stay at the back on the hall (no access to changing rooms - come ready to train).
